short burst of electrical power required to start combustion engines. Using an inverter will cause a
battery to discharge and recharge often. We recommend using a battery that is designed for this
purpose, such as Deep Cycle batteries. Deep Cycle batteries are more capable of withstanding
repeated draining and recharging.
•
When the inverter will be operating appliances with high continuous load ratings for extended periods
it is not advisable to power the inverter using the battery in a vehicle. Doing so may lead to voltage
drain in the battery rendering the battery incapable of starting the vehicle.
•
It is advised to operate the inverter using a bank of 12 volt batteries wired in parallel. Two batteries will
double the amp hour rating and three batteries will triple the amp hour rating.
•
The inverter may sound an audible alarm when the inverter is being connected or disconnected from
the 12 volt source.
•
When using an extension cord from the inverter, ensure the extension cord is no longer than 50 feet. At
this length there should be no risk of power loss.
Connection Cable Gauges
When connecting the inverter to the power source use the thickest wire gauge available in the shortest length
practical. If the inverter and battery are positioned within four feet of each other a minimum of #0 AWG wire
should be used to make connections.
How to Connect the Inverter
1. Make sure the ON/OFF rocker switch (see diagram, part A) is in the OFF (0) position.
2. Connect the BLACK cable to the BLACK (negative) power input terminal (see diagram, part F) of your power
inverter, and tighten the screw to make a secure connection. (Do not over tighten the screw.)
3. Connect the BLACK (negative) cable from your power inverter to the NEGATIVE (-) terminal on the 12 volt
power source. Double check to ensure that both ends of the cable are connected to NEGATIVE terminals and
are tight.
4. Connect the RED cable to the RED (positive) power input terminal (see diagram, part F) of your power
inverter, and tighten the screw to make a secure connection. (Do not over tighten the screw.)
5. Connect the RED (positive) cable from your power inverter to the
POSITIVE (+) terminal on the 12 volt power source. Ensure that both ends of the cable are connected to
POSITIVE terminals and are tight.
IMPORTANT
When load is under 2500 Watts
The battery terminals may connect to two terminals of the inverter DC input (one negative, one positive).
When load is over 2500 Watts
The battery terminals must connect to all four terminals of the inverter DC input (two positive, two negative).
6. Switch the inverter rocker switch to the ON (I) position. The LED Indicator Light (see diagram, part B) should
glow GREEN verifying the inverter is receiving power.
7. Make sure that the appliance to be operated is turned OFF.
Plug the appliance into one of the two AC outlets (see diagram, parts C.)
8. Turn the inverter rocker switch (see diagram, part A) to the ON (I) position.
