6. Remove the covers from the connectors of the fibre optic cables that were shipped
with your disk array.
Store the connector covers in a safe place. Always place the covers over the cable
connectors when the cable is not in use.
You may find a cotton swab in the plastic bag with the fibre optic cable. Use this
swab to clean the connector whenever it has been removed for a long time. You do
not need to clean the connector now.
7. Connect the end of each fibre optic cable to a port on the controller module
(
FIGURE 2-12
).
Note –
The fibre optic cable connectors are keyed to prevent improper insertion;
they can only be installed as shown in
FIGURE 2-12
.
8. Slide the controller module forward.
Caution – Do not pinch the cable between the expansion cabinet and the chassis.
9. Position and tighten all screws that you loosened and removed in Step 2 and
Step 3.
10. Reinstall the front panel on the controller module (
FIGURE 2-14
).
Be sure to route the fibre optic cables through the notch on the right side of the front
panel.
Note –
Do not bend the fibre optic cables at sharp angles. Always maintain at least
a 30 mm radius whenever you bend fiber optic cables.
11. Connect the other end of each fibre optic cable to the device that will be connected
to the controller module.
Refer to the Sun StorEdge A3500/A3500FC Hardware Configuration Guide and the
documentation that came with the device that will be connected to the controller
module.
12. Install the 16-bit, differential terminators to both HOST IN connectors on the
back of the controller module (
