Checking the battery acid level and
electrolyte density
NOTE
Remove the battery from its compartment to
check the water level.
WARNING
The electrolyte (diluted sulphuric acid) is poisonous
and corrosive.
– Always wear suitable protective equipment
(industrial protection goggles, safety gloves)
when working on a battery.
– Never wear a watch or jewellery when handling
battery acid.
– Do not allow any acid to get onto the clothing or
skin or into the eyes. If this does happen, rinse
immediately with plenty of clean water.
– Immediately rinse away any spilled battery acid
with plenty of water.
– In case of injury, seek medical advice immedia-
tely.
– Always follow the safety information provided by
the battery manufacturer.
– Comply with the regulations in force.
– Check the battery acid level and electrolyte
density according to the battery manufac-
turer's recommendations.
– The cell covers of the battery must be kept
dry and clean.
– Any spillage of battery acid must be neu-
tralised immediately.
ENVIRONMENT NOTE
Dispose of any used battery acid in accor-
dance with the regulations.
