7.3 Safety information for electric hospital beds

Before using the bed on parquet flooring, check whether the castors will leave stains on
the parquet varnish. The manufacturer accepts no liability for such wear. Use on tiles, car-
pet, laminate or linoleum floors is completely safe.
•
A properly installed and earthed mains socket must be available close to the bed, at the
head end.
•
Place the bed in a position where it is easy to unplug the mains cable from the socket.
•
The mains voltage from the socket must be the same as the rating shown on the type
plate on the bed.

If other equipment (e.g. compressors for positioning systems, etc.) is attached, ensure
that all items of equipment are securely fixed and function properly. Pay particular atten-
tion here to the safe routing of all loose connector cables, tubing, etc.

If you have any queries or concerns, consult the manufacturer of the equipment or Stie-
gelmeyer.
• When the bed is connected to the mains electricity supply, it must always be connected
to the hospital’s potential equalisation system when intravascular and intracardiac ap-
plications are involved.
• When this bed is connected to the mains electricity supply, it must only be used in med-
ical rooms which meet the electrical requirements of the standard VDE 0100 Part 710.
• Position the bed so as to allow easy access to the mains plug at all times so that the
bed can be disconnected from the mains, if necessary.
• This hospital bed must not be used in explosive environments caused, for example, by
cleaning agents or anaesthetics.
• This hospital bed must not be used in combination with high frequency surgical equip-
ment.
• For use in other countries outside Germany or the EU, please note any special national
requirements that may differ.
