1. Operating instructions
for the user and qualified installer
1.4 Important note
Never pressurize the water heater.
Under no circumstances must the
spout be blocked. Never use perlators or
a hose with jet control.
The formation of calcium could block the
outlet resulting in pressure being exerted
on the water heater.
The first signs for calcification are boiling
noises and a reduced flow of water. If so,
have the system and fittings decalcified by a
professional.
In order to avoid any damage by
incorrectly resetting the safety
thermal cut out in case of disturbance, this
appliance should not be used in
conjunction with a timer.
The removal of the temperature control
knob should only be done by a qualified
person! All information given in these
installation- and operation instructions must
be observed. They give important
information regarding the safety, operation
and maintenance of the appliance.
1.5 Care and maintenance
Maintenance work, such as checking
the electrical safety, may only be
carried out by a qualified installer.
•
At high temperatures almost all water
precipitates limescale. This forms deposits
in the appliance and affects its function and
service life. The heating elements must
accordingly have the limescale removed
from time to time.
The qualified installer, who is familiar with
the quality of the local water, will advise
you of the time for the next maintenance
inspection.
•
A damp cloth is sufficient for caring for the
plastic components. Do not use any
abrasive or scouring cleaning agents.
1.6 What do you do if . . . ?
. . . There is no hot water:
Check the setting of the temperature
selector switch, and check the plug and fuse.
. . . There are sounds of boiling in the
storage cylinder:
Arrange for a qualified installer to examine
the device and the fitting.
1.7 Instructions for
installation and use
Keep these instructions in a safe
place, and give them to the next user
in the event of a change of ownership. In
the event of any maintenance or repair
work being required, provide them to the
qualified installer for his reference.
1.3 Operation
To select the temperature
●
= cold. This setting protects your
water heater against frost, but does
not include the fittings and the
water mains.
E
= ca. 60 °C, recommended energy
saving setting, minor formation of
scale.
85 °C
= maximum temperature that can be
set.
1.1 Unit description
The open (non-pressurized) water heater
constantly keeps the water volume available
at the preset temperature.
1.2 The most important
points - in brief
•
Set the desired hot water circulation
temperature at the selector switch (
1
).
•
The unit is heating up when the display
(
2
) lights up.
•
During the heating-up period, water will
drip from the fitting outlet. Exceptions
to this are the Stiebel Eltron drip
prevention fittings WAT 5 and
WAT 5 K.

If the control knob is set higher than
45 °C, high-temperature water can
flow immediately.
Caution: risk of scalding!
Heating-up time
If the entire storage capacity is taken up, the
heating-up time will run in accordance with
the diagram.
