8. Optimization of the imbalance
If the imbalance is over 30 grams, the screen will display OPT, which means that the imbalance needs to be
optimized. The imbalance can be optimized in two different ways.
8.1. Imbalance has been measured
If the imbalance has already been measured before optimization, press the [OPT] key, and the display will look
like fig 20.
Mark the cone, tire and rim with a chalk. Rotate the tire on the rim 180 degrees with the help of a tire changer.
Install the wheel back on the balancer while lining up the marks on the cone and on the rim. Do the balancing
rotation, after which the display will look like fig 21.
In fig 21, the left screen displays the optimization percentage. If before optimization the imbalance value was 40
grams, and the optimization percentage is 85%, the imbalance value will be 6 grams after optimization (0,15 x 40
grams = 6 grams).
Rotate the wheel slowly by hand, and the upper and lower lights of both imbalance position indicators flash (Fig
22), mark the tire with a chalk.
Rotate the wheel by hand again, and as the middle lights of both imbalance indicators flash (Fig 23), mark the rim
with a chalk.
Detach the wheel from the balancer and use a tire changer to remove the tire from the rim. Place the tire on the
rim in such a way that the marks you made on the rim and on the tire line up with each other. The optimization has
been completed.
