Wing Continued
64. Fit the
CENTER
section turbulator spars W21 and W22 to ribs W3. W21 will
fit in the notches nearest the main spar, shared by spars W19. W22 will fit in
the notches nearest the leading edge, shared by spars W20. Holding one
wing panel at a time, flat against your work surface, bond all installed
turbulator spars to retain within wing assembly.
65. Lightly sand the entire wing, removing any excess glue on the surface, and
generally smoothing the wing in preparation for covering. Round the leading
edge and leave the trailing edge square.
Set the completed wing aside until Final Assembly.
Final Assembly
66. Cover your model in a durable, light weight covering material. We suggest
Stevens AeroModel AeroLITE.
67. Using the recommended HS-35HB servos, remove 3 of the 4 arms on the
smallest control horn.
Note: If you will be using HS-55 servos, or similar, the
servo mount must be enlarged by removing material around the existing
servo mounting hole follow the outline cut into the plywood.
68. Follow the “Push Rod Detail” on the “Detail Sheet” and make a “Z” bend at
one end of an 18” length of 0.020 wire.
69. Install control horn on the servo with the arm extending 90 degrees from the
side of the servo. Connect the “Z” bend to the hole in the control horn arm.
70. Orient the servo so that when it is installed the arm will point to the
OUTSIDE
of the aircraft. The elevator servo (shown in photo) will be
installed on the
RIGHT
side of the model. Insert the straight end of the
pushrod into the pushrod housing on the
RIGHT
side of former F3. The
rudder servo will be mounted on the
LEFT
, using the housing on the
LEFT
,
with the control horn pointing to the
LEFT
side of the model. The pushrods
will exit on the opposite sides of the fuselage.
71. When properly installed the servos should be oriented as shown in photo 71.
