3 StecaGrid 300/500
The inverter is the interface between the solar panel array
and the mains electricity grid. The solar panels collect and
convert sunlight into direct current (DC), which is then
turned into alternating current (AC) and supplied to the elec-
trical system by the inverter.
Is the solar energy system in current use, all the solar panels
are generally interlinked and then connected to a single large
inverter. This generates high voltages and large currents.
In the Steca string concept, a limited number of solar panels
are connected up in series, forming a string, and then connec-
ted to a single inverter. Several inverters can then be connec-
ted to supply electricity to the grid.
The main advantage of this concept is that mismatching and
overshadowing problems can be avoided, leading to high
outputs and greater flexibility and reliability.
The StecaGrid 300/500 inverter is transformerless. This topo-
logy allows it to reach an extremely high level of efficiency.
However, the topology means that neither the positive nor
the negative pole can be connected to an earth potential.
Accordingly, solar modules which require earthing via the
positive or negative pole cannot be used with this inverter.
The inverter makes use of various innovations in electronics,
which guarantee long service life and high levels of reliability
at a competitive price.
3.1 Characteristics
Modular design
Easy to size to your needs
A single inverter can be connected up to a string of two to
six modules. A number of mini-strings can be added toge-
ther, forming a larger system, until the desired system size
is reached. StecaGrid 300 and StecaGrid 500 can be used
in any combination up to a limit of 3,600 Watts AC power.
Linear relationship between cost and system size
The costs are determined by the size of a mini-string.
Because you can install more of the same components
instead of having to use different components to achieve
the desired system size, the costs per watt for a small sys-
tem are proportionally just as low as for a large system.
Logistics advantages
More of the same inverters, instead of inverters with diffe-
rent capacities.
