6.3.6 - Procedure to Confirm Distribution Rates
The granularity and specific weight of the fertilizers and seeds do not
always match the products listed on the rate charts. Thus, after making
adjustments according to the charts, it is necessary to confirm in practice if the
rates are correct. To evaluate and adjust the rates, use the following formula to
determine the distance traveled with the tractor in meters until a known quantity of
product is consumed:
Example:
Desire to apply 100 kg/ha of urea in a predetermined area.
Consulting the chart VI (page 17), we find:
-
Product:
urea
-
Quantity to be applied:
100 kg/ha (97 kg/ha shown on the chart)
-
Working speed:
11 km/h
-
Working width:
12m
-
Product placement:
9 hole
-
PTO rpms:
540 rpm
-
Vane placement:
3rd hole
-
Scale opening:
2.5
- Placing the lever stop on the 2.5 opening position, as suggested on table VI.
- We placed one sack of urea (50kg) into the reservoir.
Applying the formula we find:
Dist.traveled( m) =
Run dist. (m) = = Run dist. (m) = 416.7 m
After completing the 416.7m application run, with the product and the
tractor at speeds at 11km/h, the reservoir should run out of product. If this does
not occur, adjust the stop on the operational lever(Figure 12) opening or closing
the gap, depending on the case, and re-do the test until reaching the desired rate.
kg of product in reservoir x 10,000
kg/ha of product to be applied x working width
50 x 10.000
100 x 12

kg of product in reservoir x 10,000
