Note: ‘Popping’:
A "popping" sound may be heard
when the flame is dipped into the
vapour space. If a flash is not
detected, it infers that the test
temperature is about 1°C below
the flash point temperature.
Open and close the Shutter over
a period of 2.5 seconds
4.5. RESULTS
Note: ‘Halo’ Effect:
A blue halo or enlarged flame
sometimes occurs when the
temperature of the sample is
close to the flash point
temperature. These effects are
not a flash, and are not detected
by the flash detector.
4.5.1. FLASH
If a flash is detected …..
….. the second line of the
display will show “FLASH”.
Record the temperature and
result.
Note: Specification Tests:
Compensation must be made for
barometric pressure - See the
appropriate Test Method.
