12.2.1 AIS Range
You may change the display range of the AIS
screen. Press one of the soft keys, then press the
RANGE
key to display the range selection screen.
Rotate the
CH
knob to select the desired range
and press the
soft key to save the new
range.

12.2.2 Transmitting an Individual Call to an AIS Ship
It is possible for the
GX2200E
to transmit a DSC individual call to a received
AIS target by the procedure below:
1. Press one of the soft keys, then press the
soft key.

2. Rotate the

knob to select the operating chan-
nel you want to communicate on and press the
soft key.
3. To transmit an individual DSC call to the select
AIS ship, press the
soft key.
After the
GX2200E
transmits, the radio waits for
the DSC radio on the AIS ship to transmit a reply,
at which time the radio will ring like a telephone.
Pick up the mic, press the
PTT
switch and hail
the AIS vessel.
4. Press the
soft key to return to AIS screen.
5. Press the
AIS
key to return to radio screen.
