5.4 CHECKING GPS SIGNAL (GPS STATUS DISPLAY)
When the
HX870E
receives the GPS signal, a small satellite icon “ ” will
appear on the display and your current location (latitude/longitude) is shown
on the display.
The
HX870E
has a GPS status display which shows the
satellites currently being received, along with a graphi-
cal (bar-graph) representation of the relative signal
strengths from the satellites.

NOTE
• When the
HX870E
is first turned on, it may take several minutes to
compute a fix of your position. This is normal, as the
HX870E
is down-
loading “almanac” information from the GPS satellites.
• When using the
HX870E
inside of a cabin where GPS reception is
limited, choose a place where GPS satellite reception is good enough
referring to the GPS status display.
