MIDI In/Out
The Crimson is equipped with two 5-pin DIN connectors to send and receive MIDI. To
communicate with a computer via MIDI, the Crimson features a MIDI interface that trans-
lates the voltage level and provides galvanic isolation.
Use the MIDI input to connect a master keyboard, for example. Such a keyboard gen-
erates note information in MIDI format and, thus, can control a software synthesizer,
for instance, or can also be used to record key movements when inputing data into the
sequencer. In such cases, the MIDI output of the master keyboard is connected to the
MIDI input of the Crimson. The MIDI output of the Crimson can also be used to play back
pre-recorded MIDI tracks, in order to use the sound generator of an external synthesizer,
sampler, drum machine, etc. You can then record the audio outputs of the latter via the
Crimson Line Inputs 1-4, when analog, or via the SPDIF input, when digital.
