INSTALLATION
To install and connect this SPECTRON amplifier, you have to buy additional acces-
sories like power cables, RCA interconnects, fuse holders, etc. To obtain best per-
formance and power output, it is recommended to use good quality accessory
materials only. Furthermore, consider safe mounting of the amp, sufficient ventila-
tion, convenient accessibility of all the side panel controls, etc.
Please note that - because of possible interference problems with the existing car
electrics and electronics - especially the routing of the RCA signal cables and the
chassis ground connection are absolutely crucial.
MOUNTING LOCATION
Check the suitability of your preferred amplifier location carefully, before you start
installation attempts. Once you found a convenient location, bolt the amp unit in a
position that ensures free air flow.
And always choose a place where you can be sure nothing gets damaged behind
or below the panel, by drilling the holes for the amplifier mounting screws. After
installation, there should be a clearance of at least 5cm to all sides, so the side
panel can be reached for further adjustments to the electronic crossover.
GENERAL INFO ABOUT WIRES
MAIN POWER CABLE CROSS SECTION
The minimum power cable cross-section for this SPECTRON amplifier is 10mm
2
. If
you intend to bridge the amplifier, and if you run two or more amplifiers in your car
audio system, the minimum power cable cross section shall be 16mm
2
.
These recommendations guarantee trouble-free operation of your amp, giving you
full power output. Using main power cables with smaller cross sections will result
in over-heating of the amplifier circuitry, elevated distortions and they can also
cause the thermal protection circuitry to trigger, and shut-down the amplifier!
RCA INTERCONNECTS
Use at least double shielded RCA interconnect cables. Keep in mind, that the RCA
interconnects should always be kept far away from any potential sources of elec-
trical interferences, for example avoid to cross electronic vehicle management
systems (engine computers, relays etc.) fuel pumps, wiring harnesses etc.!
MINIMUM SPEAKER IMPEDANCES
The internal circuitry and the heat dissipation capacity of the amplifier's heatsink
has been designed to cope with 2 ohm impedance loads. Therefore, you can drive
4 to 2 ohm satellite speaker systems - or 4 ohm subwoofer systems in bridged ope-
ration mode. Do NOT operate this amplifier bridged into 2 ohm loads!!!!
