2-port HDMI audio converter
Item no. 1408610
Intended use
The product receives HDMI-compatible digital AV signals over an HDMI input and resends them simultane-
ously over two HDMI outputs. Depending on the input signal, an analogue stereo audio signal and a digital
optical audio signal are also available.
An external wall plug transformer enclosed is used to supply power to the converter.

Safety instructions
Damage due to not following these operating instructions will void the warranty! We do
not assume any liability for any resulting damage!
We do not assume any liability for personal injuries and material damages caused by the
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In such cases, the warranty
will be null and void.
a) General
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not permitted for safety and approval
reasons (CE). Do not disassemble the product.
• Any maintenance or repair work may only be performed only an expert.
• Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around, since it could become a dangerous plaything for
children.
b) Power adapter
• The design of the power adapter complies with Protection Class II. Use only a standard mains socket as
the power source for the power adapter.
• The mains socket into which the power adapter is plugged must be easily accessible.
• Use only the wall plug transformer supplied to power the converter.
• Do not pull the plug-in power supply from the mains socket by pulling on the cable. Hold it on the sides of
the casing and pull it out of the mains socket.
• Never touch a power adapter that shows signs of damage, as this could cause a fatal electric shock!
First, switch off the mains voltage to the socket to which the wall plug transformer is connected (switch
off at the corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety fuse or switch off at the corresponding RCD
protective switch, so that all poles of the mains socket are disconnected).
You can then unplug the power adapter from the mains socket. Dispose of the faulty power adapter in an
environmentally friendly way, do not use it any more. Replace it with a power adapter of the same design.
c) Operation
• The product is not a toy. Devices operated on mains voltage should not be used by children. Therefore, be
especially careful when children are around.
Use the product where it is out of the reach of children.
• The product is intended for use only in dry, indoor locations. No part of the product should become damp
or wet; never handle it if your hands are wet!
Power adapters pose the potential risk of a fatal electric shock!
Version 03/16
• Avoid the following adverse conditions at the location of installation and during transport:
- Dampness or excessive humidity
- Extreme cold or heat, direct sunlight
- Dust or flammable gasses, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations, impacts, or blows
- Strong magnetic fields such as those found in the vicinity of machinery or loudspeakers
• Do not place objects on the converter; never cover the converter.
• Choose a stable, even, flat and sufficiently large surface for the installation.
• Never use the product immediately after moving it from a cold room into a warm one. The condensation
that forms might damage the product. A power adapter also carries the risk of a potentially fatal electric
shock!
Allow the product to reach room temperature before connecting it to the power supply and putting it into
use. This may potentially take several hours.
• When setting up the product, make sure that the cables are neither kinked nor pinched.
• Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows or falls even from a low height.

Connection and start-up
a) Set-up and connection
• Connect the two HDMI outputs “HDMI OUT 1” (1) and “HDMI OUT 2” (3) to your monitors/televisions with
suitable HDMI-compatible cables.
• Connect the HDMI input “HDMI IN” (10) with the corresponding output, e.g., of a Blu-Ray player.
• Connect the low voltage round plug from the enclosed wall plug transformer to the corresponding socket
(7) on the converter.
• Plug the power adapter into a mains socket. The Power LED (8) lights up when the converter is ready for
operation.
• The LEDs next to the HDMI outputs light up when an HDMI device is connected and ready for operation at
the corresponding HDMI output.
• When installing the converter, protect sensitive furniture surfaces from scratches, stains or dents using a
suitable pad.
b) Selection of audio format
• First switch on the splitter, all TV sets/monitors and the playback device.
• The audio mode can be selected with the switch (11).
“2CH”:
The playback device receives EDID information that at the most 2-channel audio signal is possible. The
converter delivers the optical output at both HDMI outputs and a stereo audio signal at the analogue stereo
output.
“5.1CH”:
The playback device receives EDID information that at the most 5.1-channel audio signal is possible. The
converter delivers a corresponding audio signal to both HDMI outputs and at the optical output (depending
on the input signal that is present).
“PASS”:
The converter sends the best possible audio signal supported by connected devices (e.g., 7.1, if a 7.1
amplifier is also connected).
Depending on the input signal and due to the principles involved, no signal is present at the optical or
analogue audio output.
Troubleshooting
• First check whether the TV set/monitor is working properly when connected directly to the Blu-ray player
(without the converter).
• Then check the connection of the cable/plug between the converter and the TV set/monitor or Blu-ray
player. Replace damaged cables.
• Use a high-quality HDMI cable.
• Change the order of the connected monitors/TV sets at the converter.
• The resolution (or colour depth) of the playback signal from the Blu-ray player is too high for example (on a
TV set/monitor, for example the message “Mode not supported” etc. (signal is not supported) will appear).
