VGA/HDMI converter
with upscale function
Item no. 98 93 53
Handling
• Use is only permitted in dry indoor locations. The product must not get damp or wet! There is a risk of a
life-threatening electric shock!
• Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room to a warm one. The conden-
sation that forms might damage the product under certain circumstances. The wall plug transformer also
poses a risk for a potentially fatal electric shock!
Allow the product to reach room temperature before connecting it to the power supply and putting it to use.
This may take several hours.
• Avoid the following adverse conditions at the installation location and during transportation:
- Excessive humidity or damp
- Cold or heat, direct sunlight
- Dust or
fl
ammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations, impacts or blows,
- Strong magnetic
fi
elds such as those found in the vicinity of machinery or loudspeakers
• Any maintenance or repair work may only be performed by an authorised repair shop.
• When setting up the product, make sure that the cables are neither kinked nor pinched.
Tips and Notes
• Select the desired resolution (720p or 1080p) for the HDMI output via the sliding switch on the side of the
VGA/HDMI converter. This is also possible during the use and operation of the product.
• Set a display refresh rate of 60 Hz for the analogue VGA output on your computer. With higher values,
malfunctions may occur (no image, image interferences and so on).
• Depending on the resolution of the analogue VGA signal, the connected monitor may display a distorted
image, in spite of the integrated upscale function, because the image aspect ratios of the VGA signal and
monitor do not match. If possible, change the resolution in the operating system for the VGA output to a
different value with an aspect ratio of about 16:9 (e.g. 1280 x 720).
• Due to the upscale function of the VGA/HDMI converter, there will be a slightly blurred image (depending on
the resolution of the analogue VGA signal, the setting of the sliding switch or the resolution of the connected
monitor/TV set).
• The VGA/HDMI converter does not depend on the operating system used. Furthermore, the converter does
not require any software or drivers. Therefore, it can be used and operated with many other devices which
provide an analogue VGA video signal.
• Due to the multitude of resolutions that are possible via an analogue VGA output, you may
fi
nd that some
of these resolutions are not supported. In such cases, try setting a different resolution on your computer.
• Should the computer have several video outputs, ensure that the VGA output of the computer is enabled
and provides an image.
Cleaning
Prior to cleaning the device, pull the plug-in power unit out of the mains outlet.
Use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, as these can cause discol-
ouration. Do not press too strongly on the surface when cleaning, to prevent scratch marks.
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, long-haired brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Disposal
Electrical and electronic devices do not constitute household waste.
Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regulations.

Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these safety
instructions! We do not assume any liability for any consequential damage!
We do not assume any liability for material damage and personal injury caused by im-
proper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In such cases, the warranty
will be null and void.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modi
fi
cation of the product is not permitted for safety and approval
reasons (CE). Never dismantle the product.
• The product is not a toy. Devices operated using mains voltage must be kept out of the reach of children.
Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.
Use the product where it is out of the reach of children.
• The product is only intended for use in dry, indoor locations. No part of the product should become damp or
wet; never handle it if your hands are wet!
Wall plug transformers have the potential to cause a fatal electric shock!
• The design of the wall plug transformer complies with Protection Class II. Use only a standard mains socket
as the power source for the wall plug transformer.
The mains socket into which you connect the wall plug transformer must be easily accessible.
• Use only the wall plug transformer supplied to power the VGA/HDMI converter.
• Do not pull the wall plug transformer from the mains socket by pulling on the cable. Hold it on the sides of
the casing and pull it out of the mains socket.
• If the wall plug transformer is damaged, do not touch it; there is danger to life from electric shock!
First, switch off the mains voltage to the socket to which the wall plug transformer is connected (switch off at
the corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety fuse or switch off at the corresponding RCD protec-
tive switch, so that all poles of the mains socket are disconnected).
You can then unplug the wall plug transformer from the mains socket. Dispose of the faulty wall plug trans-
former in an environmentally friendly way, do not use it any more. Replace it with a wall plug transformer of
the same design.
• Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around, since it could become a dangerous plaything for
children.
• Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental falls, even from a low
height.
Connection and Getting Started
• Connect the VGA socket (“VGA INPUT”) of the VGA/HDMI converter to the analogue VGA video output, e.g.
a PC graphic card or a notebook, using a suitable cable.
If you want the audio playback of the computer to take place via HDMI as well (e.g. if the monitor you use
has built-in speakers), you can connect the 3.5 mm stereo jack socket (“AUDIO INPUT”) of the VGA/HDMI
converter to the analogue audio output (line level) of your computer.
• Connect a suitable HDMI-compatible cable to the HDMI socket (“HDMI OUTPUT”) of the VGA/HDMI con-
verter. Connect the cable with an HDMI input of your monitor.
• Select the desired resolution (720p or 1080p) for the HDMI output via the sliding switch on the side of the
VGA/HDMI converter.
• Connect the VGA/HDMI converter to the low-voltage plug of the wall plug transformer using the enclosed
cable adapter.
• Plug the wall plug transformer into a mains socket.
• Switch on your monitor and your computer. Select the correct input on the monitor, if required.
