1-4-9. Service Motor Assembly (MD-156)

When removing or replacing the service motor assembly (MD-156), perform “Procedure after Replac-
ing the Parts” in Section 2.

When disconnecting/connecting the fine-wire coaxial cable, be sure to disconnect/connect at the con-
nector portion. When disconnecting/connecting at the lead wire portion, it may cause the break of the
fine-wire coaxial cable.

When removing the timing belt, adjust the belt tension so that it is the same level as the tension before
replacement.

The combination of the stepping motor assembly (TILT) and stepping motor assembly (PAN) is prede-
termined. Be careful not to incorrectly combine them.

The service motor assembly (MD-156) consists of the three parts, the MD-156 board, stepping motor
assembly (TILT) and stepping motor assembly (PAN). When replacing it, all three parts need to be
replaced at the same time.

In the service motor assembly (MD-156), the stepping motor assembly (PAN) and stepping motor
assembly (TILT) have a distinguishing mark on the connector portion respectively so that you can tell
the difference between them.
The connector on the stepping motor assembly (PAN) and the connector (CN401) on the MD-156 board
are marked with black paint, and the connector on the stepping motor assembly (TILT) and the connec-
tor (CN501) on the MD-156 board are marked with blue paint.
MD-156 board
1. Remove the cabinet. (Refer to Section 1-3.)
2. Remove the CN-3766 board. (Refer to Section 1-4-1.)
3. Remove the FCB assembly. (Refer to Section 1-4-2.)
4. Remove the center cabinet. (Refer to Section 1-4-3.)
5. Remove the bottom plate. (Refer to steps 1 and 2 in Section 1-4-4.)
6. Remove the TILT chassis assembly. (Refer to steps 2 and 3 in Section 1-4-8.)
