MAV-70
1-15. Copy Connection
This section describes how to connect several MAV-70s together to copy files from one MAV-70 to
another. A dedicated BKMA-7040 is required in order to connect them together so that copies can be
made.

This function is available only for MAV-70s with a serial number of 11051 or higher.
The MAV-70s with a serial number 11050 or lower can also use this function after upgrading their
software to Ver. 2.00 or higher. For the upgrading procedure, contact the Sony Sales Office or Service
Center.
Required equipment/cables

Interface Board BKMA-7040: One cable is required for each MAV-70 to be connected for copying.

BNC cable (RG59/u-type coaxial cable or equivalent

A maximum of 8 units can be connected.

The same equipment is used as for the capacity expansion (refer to Section “1-14. Loop Connection”.)

However, two BKMA-7040s are required for capacity expansion and copy connection for every MAV-
70.

The length of each BNC cable should not exceed 25 m.

The BNC cables should not be any longer than is required.

Install the BKMA-7040 to the MAV-70.

If capacity is not expanded : Install the BKMA-7040 in SLOT 6.

If capacity is expanded :
Install the BKMA-7040 in SLOT 5 of the master unit that is reserved
for capacity expansion.
Install the BKMA-7040 for capacity expansion into SLOT 6.
