Moisture Condensation
When the unit is suddenly moved from a cold to a
warm location, or used in a very humid place, moisture
from the air can condense on the head-drum. This is
called moisture condensation. If the tape is run in this
state, it can adhere to the drum. To prevent such a
condition from occurring, the unit is provided with a
moisture detecting function.
If moisture condenses on the head-drum while the unit
is in use, the ALARM indicator lights and “ERR-10”
is displayed in the time data display area 1.
If this happens, the drum and capstan motors stop and
the cassette is automatically ejected. Then, the durm
starts to rotate again to dry its surface. In this state, the
unit is not operable. When the moisture has
evaporated, the error message disappears and the
ALARM indicator goes off.
If “ERR-10” appears and the ALARM indicator
lights immediately after powering the unit on
Leave the unit powered on and wait until the error
message disappears and the indicator goes off.
While the indicator is lit, you cannot insert a cassette.
When the indicator goes off and the error message
disappears, you can use the unit.
If you move the unit from a cold to a warm
location
Leave the unit powered off for about 10 minutes, in
order to give the unit time to detect moisture
condensation.
