Symptom
Cause/Remedy
Distortion occurs in the sound
recorded from other equipment.
When recording a sound by connecting the headphone output of
other equipment to the
(Headphone / AUDIO IN) jack of your
player, distortion may occur if the volume level of the connected
equipment is too high. Set a suitable volume level before
recording. Also, it is recommended that you fi rst perform test
recording to check volume.

“?” is displayed for a title.
Characters that cannot be displayed on your player are used.
Transfer fi le back to the computer and then use Windows Media
Player, etc., to rename the title with appropriate characters.
Lyrics are not displayed
correctly.
Characters that cannot be displayed in the language setting on your
player are used.
When the language is set to “Traditional Chinese” (page 36),
the lyric fi le of the Traditional Chinese character set is
necessary.
On charging the battery
Symptom
Cause/Remedy
Battery life is short.
• The operating temperature is below 5ºC (41ºF).
Battery life becomes shorter due to the battery characteristics.
This is not malfunction.
• The battery is required to be replaced.

“USB mode” is not displayed
when connected to the computer
with the supplied USB cable.
• Another application is running on the computer.
Wait for a while and reconnect the USB cable. If the problem
persists, disconnect the USB cable, restart the computer, and
then reconnect the USB cable.
• The supplied USB cable has disconnected.
Connect the supplied USB cable.
• A USB hub is used.
Connecting via a USB hub is not guaranteed. Connect the
supplied USB cable directly to the computer.
Your player is not recognized by
the computer when it is
connected to the computer.

• The supplied USB cable is not connected properly.
