Symptom Cause/Remedy
The number of fi le(s) that can be
transferred is limited. (Available
recording time is short.) • There is not enough free space in the built-in fl ash memory.

Transfer any unnecessary fi les back to your computer to
increase free space.
• Non-audio fi le is stored in the built-in fl ash memory.

Move non-audio fi le to the computer to increase free space.
Operation of the player becomes
unstable while it is connected to
the computer. USB hub or USB extension cable is used.

Connecting via a USB hub or USB extension cable is not
guaranteed. Connect the supplied USB cable directly to the
computer.
On FM tuner
Symptom Cause/Remedy
You cannot hear the FM
broadcast well. The receiving frequency is not fully tuned in.

Select the frequency manually to improve reception (page 21).
Reception is weak and sound
quality is poor. • The radio signal is weak.

Listen to the FM broadcast near a window since the signal
may be weak inside buildings or vehicles.
• The headphone cord does not extend enough.

The headphone cord functions as an antenna. Extend the
headphone cord as far as possible.
The FM broadcast is affected by
interference. An apparatus emitting radio signals, such as a mobile phone is
being used near your player.

When using such apparatus as mobile phones, keep them away
from your player.

Your player gets warm. While charging, your player may become slightly warm.

station because the FM signal
level is too weak or absent. Move to another area.
Rec File Error Cannot create a new fi le for
recording due to a fi le system
error. Format the built-in fl ash memory.
No Space Not enough memory space for
recording. Delete some fi les.
File System Error Something is wrong with the
fi le. Format the built-in fl ash memory.
Unknown Format The format of music or photo
is not supported. Use the correct fi les.
File Error • The fi le cannot be read.
• The fi le is not normal. Transfer the normal fi le back to the computer
and then format your player. For details, refer
to “To delete abnormal fi le from the built-in
fl ash memory” on page 48.
