Connect to a private network through the Internet

Network Connection Type window.

The new connection (named L2TP) appears in the Network and
Dial-up Connections under
Control Panel .
From here, right-click
to edit the
Properties .

Under the Networking Tab, make sure that the Type Of Server I
Am Calling is set to L2TP .

Select TCP/IP protocol. Make sure that the connection is configured
to obtain an IP address automatically.
6.4.2 Disabling IPSec on the Windows 2000 PC
Warning: Take adequate precautions (such as backing up the
registry) prior to modifying the registry. You should also refer to the
Microsoft website for the correct procedure to modify the registry.
To add the ProhibitIpSec registry value to your Windows 2000
based computer, use Regedt.exe to locate the following key in the
registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Rasman\Parameters
Add the following registry value to this key:
Value Name: ProhibitIpSec
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 1
Once the connection is configured, you can double click it to
pop-up the login screen, then connect!
