SETTING PARAMETERS FOR MMA MODE
For MMA welding, the machine supports the functions of priming assistance (hot-start), material transfer assistance
(arc-force) and prolonged short-circuit power reduction (anti-stick).
Connect the electrode holder clamp and earth clamp according to the instructions of the electrodes in use. Use the
terminals on the outside of the power unit. Select MMA mode. Once you have selected the MMA mode you can set
the desired welding amperage.
For MMA mode, the adjustable parameters are shown in the following table.
Solter AeroTIG machines allow you to select the output polarity. Please, check the right polarity for the electrode type
you are using and select accordingly on the front panel.
The hot-start feature allows a slightly higher initial power to improve the priming and facilitate the creation of the weld.
This feature reduces the risk of fusion defects that may appear at the beginning of the weld.
Solter AeroTIG machines have the arc-force feature. This feature assists the transfer of coated electrode material by
adjusting the short-circuit current. If a prolonged short circuit of more than a second occurs, the anti-stick function is ac-
tivated (the machine stops supplying power to allow to pull off the electrode).
If you use cutting electrodes or arc gouging electrodes, set an Arc Force value of more than 150%. You can increase
the sensitivity of the arc-force feature using the advanced parameter P.28. For cutting electrodes, a sensitivity of 1 to 3
is recommended. For rutile or basic electrodes, the ideal sensitivity is between 5 and 7.

Initial current level for starting the arc with coated electrode. A
value between 100 and 250% helps better penetration of the ma-
terial when starting the bead.

100%
250%
Regulates the maximum short circuit current to help material
transfer. A high value helps prevent the electrode sticking to the
workpiece and improves the welding quality of cellulosic type
electrodes or aluminium alloys.
