8.4 After 5 minutes, light a smoke match and position it approximately 100mm down
from the top of the fire opening and 30mm into the fire opening from the front edge
(see Fig 12)
. Run the match across the full width of the fire opening. All smoke
should be drawn into the flue. If not,
the test should be repeated after a
further 10 minutes.
8.5
If the smoke is still not drawn
into the flue
the appliance should be
disconnected
. Further investigation is
required with specialist assistance.
9 BRIEFING THE USER
9.1 Demonstrate the full operation of
the appliance to the user, with particular
emphasis on the layout of the coals and
dual flame control if fitted. Explain how
the pilot is designed to shut off the fire
should spillage be present in the room.
9.2 Inform the customer that all
cleaning procedures should only be
carried out when the fire is cold and the gas is turned off at the control knob.
9.3 Advise on the importance of annual servicing of the appliance and checking of the
flue, to maintain a high standard of safety. Advise the user that if dissatisfied with the
performance, the controls and coal layout should not be tampered with, but expert
assistance called in via the Supplier or Installer.
9.4 Indicate the tie-on label that the user must remove and read.
9.5 Leave this instruction manual with the user, to be retained in a safe place for
future reference.
10 SERVICING AND MAINTENANCE
10.1. BEFORE SERVICING IS CARRIED OUT, ISOLATE THE APPLIANCE FROM THE GAS
SUPPLY. ALWAYS CHECK FOR GAS SOUNDNESS AND SPILLAGE AFTER RE-FITTING
THE APPLIANCE
10.2 With the fire turned OFF and allowed to cool remove the front and fret. Carefully
remove the coals and place on a dustsheet to prevent marks to the carpet.
10.3 Remove the front coal block.
(See Figs 6 and 7)
. Any sooty deposits on the
coals may be removed using a soft dry brush. Examine coals and all ceramic parts for
signs of damage. Replace as necessary.
10.4 The “catchment area” behind the hot box casing must be inspected for any
accumulation of debris, by removing the casing as follows:-
a)
Remove the brass trim by pulling forwards and away from the firebox ensuring
the magnetic strips stay in place on the fire case.
b)
Disconnect the gas inlet supply from the inlet elbows.
c)
Remove the four fixing screws retaining the casing to the fireplace opening, or
undoing the wires. Remove the casing and any debris from the catchment area.
d)
The seal used to form a gasket attached to the flange needs to be inspected.
This can be reused if undamaged. A new one can be obtained from Eurotech
Fires. Refer to spare parts.
10.5 Refit the casing ensuring the seal is made good. Replace the four fixing screws
or tie-wires. Replace the brass trim
