Configuration

The SMC-EZ1026DT can be configured, via a console cable, from a 
PC using Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0. First, 
connect a PC to the switch using an RS232 null-modem cable. 
Then install and run the utility program to configure the switch.

Windows Utility

The diskettes labelled “SetUp Utility” that come with the package 
contain a utility program for configuring the SMC-EX1026DT. You 
can use the utility to configure port parameters, port trunks and 
VLAN membership. You can also download the switch’s default 
configuration via the utility. For details see “Default Switch 
Configuration” on page 25.

Note:

Backup your utility diskettes and use the copies as 
working diskettes to protect the originals from accidental 
damage.

Follow the steps below to install the utility program.

1.

Insert the first SMC-EZ1026DT utility disk ito the floppy drive 
on your computer.

2.

Click on “Run” from the “Start” menu and enter the following 
command: “A:\SETUP.” 

3.

Follow the on-screen instructions to install the utility program.
