8.4 The skin colour sensor
Light-based hair removal on darker skin tones may result in adverse effects
such as burns, blisters, and skin colour changes (hyper- or hypo-pigmentation).
Your Skinera™ IPL device has a skin colour sensor that detects the colour of
your skin automatically (#6 in the diagram). If your skin tone is too dark for
safe use, the device will not operate.
8.5 What to expect when treating with Skinera™
For many people, using the Skinera™ IPL device may be their first experience
with a light-based device. During a treatment session it is normal to experience
or feel:
Noise:
The cooling fan makes noise similar to a hair dryer. This
is normal.
A popping sound:
With each flash of IPL light.
A sensation of warmth and tingling:
During each light pulse.
Some redness:
It is not uncommon to see some very mild,
pink-like skin colouration during or just after a treatment. This is
usually most noticeable around the hairs themselves.
E
Stop use immediately
if you see your skin is very red.
9. Get started
To use your Skinera™ IPL device, follow these steps:
1. Remove the device and other components from box.
2. Plug the
adapter
cord
into the device socket (#1 in the diagram) and
plug the
adapter
into an electrical outlet. All energy level indicator
lights will turn on, and then go off.
