SKF Machine Condition Indicator

How to Select the MCI’s Alarm Mode

SKF Machine Condition Indicator

User Manual

In percentage mode, minimum alarm levels are 7 mm/s RMS and 4 gE.  Any calculated
alarm levels less then these minimum levels will be rounded up to these minimum levels.

To switch from threshold alarm mode to percentage alarm mode:

For accurate alarming, it is important that the machine is known to be in

good running condition prior to initiating percentage mode.

After activating and mounting the MCI, with the machine running at its nominal speed
and temperature:

If the MCI fails to establish the baseline levels, the LEDs blink amber 3 times every 5
seconds for a twenty second duration - and the MCI returns to threshold mode.

If the amber LEDs display, confirm that the machine is running at its nominal speed
and temperature before trying to place it in percentage mode again.  If the MCI still
cannot establish a baseline (typically due to fluctuating conditions), you should use
your SKF Microlog Analyzer to determine the cause.  If you cannot determine a
cause, contact your SKF representative for assistance.
