1 GENERAL DESCRIPTION
1.1 General characteristics
Sime calorifiers are technologically advanced devices that rely
on innovative production methods for offering premium-quality
products to the market.
The production of Sime calorifiers has always been primarily
geared towards obtaining an effective hot water storage sys-
tem for all plants running on solid, liquid or gaseous fuels used
for heating water for both space heating (buffer calorifiers for
storing thermal energy) and domestic hot water production ne-
cessities.
The heat-transfer fluid (namely the heated fluid that circulates
through the coil to transfer heat) is made to circulate between
the calorifier’s coil heat exchanger and the heat source (for ex-
ample, a boiler), with the aid of a pump.
The heat-transfer fluid receives heat from the source and
transmits it to the water for domestic-sanitary use in the stor-
age tank by means of the coil heat exchanger. The heat source
may be a boiler fired with solid, liquid or gaseous fuel, or a so-
lar collector system.
Sime calorifiers for sanitary use are made internally of steel
lined with vitreous enamel. This means that the steel sheet
making up the calorifier shell is lined internally with a highly
thick layer of vitreous enamel.
The end result is a domestic hot water storage tank obtained
by adopting the most advanced hygienic-sanitary protection
measures.
Moreover, Sime calorifiers are protected by a magnesium an-
ode for preventing damages caused by corrosion. We suggest
checking the state of wear of the magnesium anode at least
once a year and, if it is completely worn, it should be replaced
by contacting the nearest Technical Assistance Centre. The
magnesium anode can be easily replaced by following the in-
structions appearing further below in this manual.
Sime calorifiers can be grouped into the following categories:
– DHW calorifiers;
– Combined calorifiers;
– Buffer calorifiers.
