INFORMATION
The professional SIMDA slide projectors are certified to comply to European standard EN 60 335-2-56, for electro-domestic
security and to the electro-magnetic standards EN 55014, EN 55104.
The User must ensure that the connection to the electrical mains is correct.
For example: Before connecting the unit to the mains, ensure that the projector voltager selector is set
to the same voltage as the mains supply.
Do not leave the projector in unexperienced hands (children).
A1 - RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE
Carefully unpack your projector and keep the packaging (it could be useful for
a future carriage).
A1-1 - Setting up the projector
The projector should be placed on a firm support to avoid any picture
movement on the screen.(SIMDA has stackers for several projectors).
Ensure you leave some space around the machine in order to easily gain
access to the different parts of the unit (plugs, lens, tray, lamp door etc.). Also
leave space around the ventilation slots in order to ensure cool and efficient
running of the projector.
Most important: Do not put the projector on a table cloth as this will seriously
effect the ventilation and could damage the projector.
A good ventilation of the projector will protect your slides.
A1-2 - Height adjustment
Height adjustment of the projector is made by the two front wheels (n° 8 right
and left).
The maximum adjustment is 6° (20mm leg extension) (n°9). If the adjustment
is not enough, you may use an adapted support but do not /- 15°.
Tilting the projector beyond 15° could effect efficient slide changing.
Also, be aware that if the projector is not perpendicular to the screen the
picture will be distorted (keystone). This distorsion may be avoided by using
SIMDA perspective control lenses (see SIMDA accessories)
A1-3 - Fixing the projector
You can fix the projector to a stand, etc ...by using the fixing points located
under the projector. Use “M6” screws, 20mm long plus support thickness and
three metal cross pieces (12mm high for the two front points and 10mm for the
central point. External diameter : 15/18mm). The height of the cross pieces
ensures the projector is fixed parrallel to the support.
A2 - PREPARING THE SHOW
The projector is supplied without a tray or lens. The following information will
help you to choose the right accessories to suit your needs.
A2-1 - The slides
Most slides placed into 5x5mm mounts can be used.
Thickness of the mounts : between 1 and 3.2mm maximum.
Plastic mounts are recommended. Glass mounts should be used for
professional shows.
You must always use the same mounts in a tray in order to ensure consistent
sharp focus.
Autofocus mode does not allow the mixing of mounts, with or without glass. It
should only be used for mounts without glass.
The projector can project 24x36mm and 40x40 mm slides (see parag.A7.2).
Note: Some non glass mount can cause the slide to twist and effect
sharpness. Glass mounts will ensure a flat film plane and are also useful when
the projector is used in a hot surrounding temperature. NEVER use twisted
mounts.
A2-2 - The trays
The projector is compatible for round trays holding 80 slides (ref. SIMDA 3280
or equivalent).
If you have some old trays, you must check for broken fins or a bent base plate
prior to any show.
A2-3 SELECTING THE SLIDES
Before placing the slides into the tray, you must check that the locking pin is in
the “0” position of the metal base plate.
Slides must be positioned upside down (usually with the white side of the
mount toward the bulb). Lock the cover in place in order to protect the slides.
