8.3. Battery operation – inserting the batteries into
the device
The battery compartment is located at the rear of the device.
Release both latches and remove the battery compartment cover.
Insert eight 1.5 V R20/LR20/D batteries (not supplied) with the negative ends on the
springs. Refer to the diagram in the battery compartment!
Replace the battery compartment cover.
The device is battery-operated if no power cord is connected to the
AC~
socket.
The device is now in standby mode.
WARNING!
Risk of explosion if batteries are replaced incorrectly.
Replace batteries only with the same or equivalent type.
8.4. Mains operation – connecting the mains cable
Connect the supplied power cord to AC the device
AC~
socket.
Plug the mains adapter plug into an easily accessible mains outlet.
The device is mains-operated even if batteries are inserted at the same time.
8.5. Radio reception
The top of the main device is fitted with a telescopic aerial. Fully extend the aerial and ad-
just it for optimum FM radio reception.
8.6. Setting up the device
• Place the device on a sturdy, level surface. Some aggressive varnishes can corrode the
rubber feet on the device. If necessary, place the device on a suitable underlay.
• Upon delivery there is a protective transport insert in the CD compartment. Remove this
cardboard.
Before connecting to an external device, unplug the device's mains plug!
