3: Server Installation
Choose a Setup Location
Follow these guidelines:
Caution: The equipment is intended for installation only in a restricted access location.
• This product is not suitable for use with visual display work place devices according to
Clause 2 of the
German Ordinance for Work with Visual Display Units document.
• Leave enough clearance in front of the rack to enable you to open the front door completely
(~25 inches) and approximately 30 inches of clearance in the back of the rack to allow for
sufficient airflow and ease in servicing.

Warning:
Failure to follow the following guidelines can result in serious injury or damage
to the equipment.
• The SGI Rackable C2112-4RP9 server weighs 85 lbs (38.6 kg). Always use proper lifting
techniques when your move the server. Always get the assistance of another qualified person
when you install the sever in a location above your shoulders.
• Extend the leveling jacks on the bottom of the rack to the floor with the full weight of the
rack resting on them.
• Attach stabilizers to the rack in single rack installations.
• Couple racks together in multiple rack installations.
• Be sure the rack is stable before extending a component from the rack.
• Extend only one component at a time. Extending two or more components simultaneously
may cause the rack to tip over.
