This is how you make your fountain winter proof
General instruction for small and large cast stone fountains
To avoid frost damage please consider the following points:
1. Before setting up, fountains which overwinter in the outdoor area should for example
be put on wooden bars so they wound be damaged through frozen underground during
the freezing season.
2. In the beginning of the freezing season the water should be completely drained out of the
fountain.
3. The entire accessories (pump, transformer…) should be taken out of the fountain and
stored in a frost protected room.
4. So that the rubber joint of the pump will not dry out you should store the pump into a
bucket with chalk free water otherwise the function of the pump could be affected.
Please do not let the pump run dry because thereby you will damage it.
4. Dry the fountain on the in- and outside and than wrap it in waterproof foil so that water
or moisture can not enter.
5. Please regularly check the wrapping and thereon pay attention that moisture can not
enter and that water has not gathered in the basin – this could lead to damage during the
frost-dew change.
6. Smaller fountains should completely – without water – overwinter in a dry, frost free and
protected place.
With attention to the above mentioned tips and references you will have a long time of
enjoyment with your fountain.
