3. In the dialog window that opens, click "Ok" to start the wizard that searches for new 

hardware.

Select the option "Not this time" and click "Next".

4. Place the CD supplied with the device driver into the CD drive and click "Next".
5. Follow the instructions of the wizard to install the device driver.
6. Once installation is complete, you must unplug the USB plug and restart your computer.
7. When you plug the USB plug into the USB port of your computer again, the computer 

recognizes the HART modem.
– To check the communication connection, select "Settings > Control Panel > System".
– In the "System properties" dialog, select the "Hardware" tab and click on "Device 

Manager".

– Open "Ports (COM & LPT)" and check the communication connection that is assigned to 

the HART modem.

8.4.1

Troubleshooting: SIMATIC PDM cannot find the WirelessHART adapter

Possible cause

Solution

Incorrect address range selected in the parameterization tool. 

By default, the address of the WirelessHART adapter is "15".

Select the address range so that the address of the Wireles‐

sHART adapter is in this range.
See section "Identification (Page 50)."

A different USB or COM port was used on the computer than 

the one that was specified during configuration of the HART 

modem. 

Configure the communication interface in SIMATIC PDM 

again or use the correct port.

The output signal of the HART modem is too strong for the 

requirements.

Connect a resistor.
See section "Connecting a WirelessHART adapter to a com‐

puter using a modem (Page 46)."
