Maintenance instructions

Warning!

Only readjust the balance weights each time the cylinder is removed from the weighing device for refill or
when it cannot be guaranteed that a filled cylinder will be refitted to its original weighing device.
Do not adjust the position of the balance weights during routine servicing or due to the weighing device
having tripped.
The following checks shall be carried out on the weighing device at least annually:

Mechanical operation:

Ensure that the movement of the weight spindle is smooth with no evidence of any sticking throughout the
movement of the weight spindle. Any weighing device where sticking of the trip mechanism is evident shall be
replaced.

Ensure all lock nuts are tight.

·

 

The correct setting of the weighing device can be verified using a flat bar (300mm to 500mm length) and small
pivot (25mm - 50mm section steel angle or diameter round bar). Place the flat bar onto the ground so that one
end of the bar is approximately 50mm under the base of the cylinder. Place the pivot under the middle of the
flat bar and place a weight equal to 5% of the weight of the contents of the cylinder on the other end of the flat
bar. The weighing device should trip if set up correctly. Reset and relock the weight as required.

Visual inspection:

Inspect the weighing device for excessive oxidation, clean as necessary.

·

 

Check that the weight securing wire is still in place and sealed, if missing verify the correct setting of the
weighing device in accordance with the procedure above.

·

 

If required correct the alignment of the weighing device in the rack.
