In addition, the Open Processor does the following:
x
Supports Expansion Module Kits.
x
Does not require a Power Module in the enclosure unless the Open Processor
controls Point Termination Modules (PTMs).
x
Can reside in an enclosure that contains a Power Module and one or more Controller
Modules and/or
other
Open Processors.
Other
Open Processors are those capable of
supporting one of a variety of communication drivers.
NOTE:
An MBC enclosure is FCC-approved for a maximum of four Controller Modules
and/or Open Processors.
Figure 2-2 shows an MBC enclosure with various modules.

The Open Processor with Trane driver is a high-performance, independent controller that is
customized to meet your exact building control needs. It controls mechanical equipment and
performs specialized applications using Direct Digital Control (DDC). The Open Processor
with Trane driver can communicate with System 600 APOGEE field panels and Insight
workstations. It can be implemented as a central monitoring unit or remote site equipment
controller, and can communicate with the point modules in the cabinet.
Data about Trane equipment controllers for controlling, displaying, logging, alarming, and
trending on the System 600 APOGEE is made available by the Open Processor, shown in
Figure 2-3, Figure 2-4, and Figure 2-5. Points in the Open Processor’s database hold
information about Trane equipment controllers.
