Before using for the first

time

Before using for the first time

Before you can use your new appliance, you must

make some settings. You must also clean the cooking

compartment and accessories.

Cleaning the cooking compartment and

accessories

Before using the appliance to prepare food for the first

time, you must clean the cooking compartment and

accessories.

Cleaning the cooking compartment

To remove the new-appliance smell, heat up the

cooking compartment when empty and with the oven

door closed.
Make sure that the cooking compartment does not

contain any leftover packaging, such as polystyrene

pellets. Before heating the appliance, wipe the smooth

surfaces in the cooking compartment with a soft, wet

cloth. Keep the kitchen ventilated while the appliance is

heating.
Make the settings indicated. You can find out how to set

the type of heating and the temperature in the next

section.

~

"Operating the appliance" on page 15

Switch off the appliance after the cooking time

indicated.
After the cooking compartment has cooled down, clean

the smooth surfaces with soapy water and a dish cloth.

Cleaning the accessories

Clean the accessories thoroughly using soapy water

and a dish cloth or soft brush.

Before using for the first time

To eliminate the new-appliance smell, switch all of the

cooking zones to position 4 one after the other and

without cookware for 15 minutes each. Only ever switch

on one hotplate. During initial operation, smoke and

odours may be released but these will disappear over

time.

:

Warning – Risk of harm to health!

When heating up the hotplate for the first time, vapour is

released which may lead to irritation of the mucous

membranes. During this process, ensure that the

kitchen is well ventilated. Keep children, pets and

particularly vulnerable people away from the room.

Caution!

Do not operate the hotplates without placing pans on

top, except during this initial heating phase.

Important information about your electric

hotplate

If the diameter of the pot or pan base is not the same

as that of the hotplate or if the pan base is not flat,

energy will be used unnecessarily. Any overflowing

liquid will burn on and leave stains that are difficult to

remove.
Make sure that the pot or pan base is dry.
The electric hotplate must not be switched on if there is

no pan on it.
Due to the effects of heat, the metallic hotplate ring will

discolour over time. You can remove this discolouration

by cleaning the hotplate ring using the rough side of a

sponge and a cleaning agent. When cleaning, make

sure that the sponge does not come into contact with

the hotplate.
Residual heat will still be present when the hotplate is

switched off. Keep children away from the appliance.
Make sure that the rotary knob for the hotplate is

switched off following a power cut.
When you begin cooking, we recommend turning the

control knob up to the maximum setting and then,

depending on the quantity and quality of the foods

being cooked, turn down the heat to a medium setting.
Taking advantage of the thermal inertia of the hob, the

hob can be switched off shortly before you finish

cooking. This will save energy as food will continue to

cook using the heat retained in it.
Use perfectly flat, thick bottom pans of a similar size to

the hotplate, never smaller.
Do not spill liquid on the hob's surface, or use wet pans

on it.
If prolonged use has worn away the surface of the

electric hobs, sprinkle them with a few drops of oil or

other maintenance products that are widely available.
