5.1 Temperature sensor
Description
Temperature sensors are located directly in the stator winding of the motor.
They are used for direct monitoring of the temperature of the motor win-
dings. This makes it possible to detect whether the motor is operating nor-
mally or is overloaded.
Two types of temperature sensor are supported:
– Thermoclick: this is a switch that opens when the winding reaches a cer-
tain temperature
– PTC type A: this is a positive temperature coefficient thermistor with a
defined characteristic in accordance with VDE 0660 Parts 302 and 303
"Temperature sensor" parameter
This parameter enables you to determine which temperature sensor is to be
used.
Setting range with parameter PO-0.1:
• Thermoclick [1]
• PTC type A [0]
"Behavior in the event of overload - temperature sensor" parameter
This parameter enables you to determine how you want the motor starter to
respond in the event of overloading of the temperature sensor.
Setting range with parameter PO-0.2:
• Trip [1]
• Warn [0]
"Auto reset" parameter
Auto reset means that if a starting command is applied the motor starter
will start again automatically when the cause of the fault has been elimina-
ted (auto reset).
Possible fault causes:
– Temperature sensor overload
– Temperature sensor wire break
– Temperature sensor short-circuit
Setting range with parameter PO-0.3:
• Auto reset [1]: NO
[0]: YES
