The drive shaft must be carefully cleaned to remove the corro-
sion protection before drive elements such as couplings, chain
sprockets, gear wheels or toothed belts are fitted.
Ensure the cleaning agent used will not damage the seal-
ing ring!
Drive elements may only be fitted or removed with suitable
devices, using a centre bore hole to DIN 332 in the journal
shaft, if necessary. It is advisable to heat the hub to approx.
100 °C.
The drive element must be fixed on the shaft in the position
specified for the drive arrangement. The manufacturer’s rec-
ommendations relating to pre-tension settings and mainte-
nance must be complied with in the case of chains and
wheels.
Angular geared motors with
hollow shaft
,
key
or
splined pro-
file shaft
must be fitted using a threaded pin and relevant
thrust washer. The machine shaft must feature a centre bore
hole with a thread to DIN 332 and be cleaned and lubricated
with a commercially available lubricant. The shaft must be gui-
ded on both sides into the hollow shaft.

Fix the gearbox on the machine shaft against axial dis-
placement.
When fitting the angular geared motors with
hollow shaft
and
shrink disk connection
, also use threaded pin and thrust
washer.
•
Before the gearbox is placed on the mating shaft, the
inside of the hollow shaft and the outside of the mat-
ing shaft must be degreased.
•
Release the tension in the shrink disk by unscrewing
all tensioning screws a few turns anticlockwise. Slide
the gearbox, together with the shrink disk, onto the
mating shaft and position them. Slide the shrink disk
inner ring up to the stop on the hollow shaft.
•
Tighten all tensioning screws equally until all the
front faces of the outer and inner ring are flush.

The reaction torque of
shaft-mounted gearboxes
is sup-
ported by a torque arm with a rubber buffer which is available
as an option.

1)
for connecting the torque arm to the gearbox
Precise adjustment of shaft and housing is imperative for
preventing any damage to the bearings, especially when
gearboxes in flange or foot design are rigidly mounted.
5 Electrical
connection
Work may only be carried out by
qualified specialists
on the
stationary motor
, while
disconnected
and
protected
against being switched on again
. This also applies for the
auxiliary power circuits (e.g. anti-condensation heaters).
Verify the safe isolation of the equipment from the supply!
The electrical connection with regard to frequency, voltage and
connection must comply with the specification on the rating
plate and the connection diagram in the terminal box. If the
tolerance limits
are exceeded that are specified in
EN 60034
,
part 1/IEC 34-1
(voltage
±
5 %, frequency
±
2 %, shape of
curve, symmetry), the heating effect is increased and the elec-
tromagnetic compatibility is affected.
Connections must be made in such a way that a
permanently
safe
electrical connection is maintained (no protruding wire
ends); use the corresponding cable end pieces. Create a
safe
earth
continuity connection
.
