NOTICE
Mechanical action can damage the optics cover.
b
Do not mechanically remove ice from the optics cover.
Remedial measures:
b
Mount the device in a protected area of the vehicle or machine.
b
Install additional heating.
Ice in the protective field
Ice in the protective field, for example icicles on the weather hood, can affect the safety
laser scanner. This may impair the machine’s availability. That is to say, the safety laser
scanner switches the machine off, although no people are located in the protective
field.
NOTICE
Mechanical action can damage the optics cover.
b
Do not mechanically remove ice from the optics cover.
Remedial measures:
b
Direct running water so that it does not flow or drip through the protective field.
b
Install additional heating.
b
Regularly remove the ice, for example icicles on the weather hood.
Condensation
Condensation on the optics cover can affect the safety laser scanner. This may impair
the machine’s availability. That is to say, the safety laser scanner switches the machine
off, although no people are located in the protective field.
Moisture can condense on the optics cover, in particular when moving the device
between indoors and outdoors, due to the rapid change in temperature.
Remedial measures:
b
Mount the device in a protected area of the vehicle or machine.
b
Install an air circulator on the device.
b
Install additional heating.
Precipitation and water spray on the device
Direct weather influences can prematurely age the device.
Remedial measures:
b
Use a weather hood.
b
Mount the device in a protected area of the vehicle or machine.
Water spray on the optics cover
Direct water spray on the optics cover can affect the safety laser scanner. This may
impair the machine’s availability. That is to say, the safety laser scanner switches the
machine off, although no people are located in the protective field.
Remedial measures:
b
Avoid the creation of water spray in the vicinity of the device, for example by keep‐
ing other vehicles at a distance.
b
Use a weather hood.
b
Mount the device in a protected area of the vehicle or machine.
