Common Problems
DMX Related Problems
Problem Testing Analysis Solution
No mains power Connect the power Check that the power supply is the
same as that specified on the unit.
Power cable /
connection incorrect. Replace the power cable and
connector
No power to fixture,
fans not turning.
Check the fuse. Main fuse burnt. Replace the main fuse.
The lamp is damaged. Replace the lamp.
The lamp is too hot and
is trying to restrike. Wait for the lamp to cool.
The mains voltage is
too low. Test the mains voltage.
The igniter is broken. Replace the igniter.
After connecting power, there are
some sounds coming from inside the
fixture.
The ballast is
connected incorrectly. Check the connections to the ballast.
The fixture casing is not
closed correctly. Check and replace all of the fixing
locks on the casing. After connecting power, there are no
sounds from inside the fixture.
PCB or Switch
connections are
incorrect. Test the PCB and Switch
connections.
The temperature inside
the unit is too high. Wait for the lamp to cool
Fixture is operational
but there is no output.
The thermostat is open.
The cooling fans are
not operating. Check the connections on the fan. If
the fan is faulty, replace with a new
one.
The lamp is not operating correctly. The mains voltage is
too high or too low. Test the mains voltage.

If the fan is faulty, replace with a new

The lamp is dim.
The temperature in the unit is too
high.
The air intake slits are
blocked. Clean the air intake slits.
Problem Testing Analysis Solution
Check that all units are set in DMX
512 MODE. The controller is not
connected to the
fixtures. Reconnect the DMX512 controller. All units are not
responding to DMX 512
control.
The DMX signal indicator
are not lit.
Reset all of the fixtures. There is a cable error
between the fixtures. Use a known to be working cable to
test each fixture.
It is always the same units, which
are showing operating problems. DMX Address is set
incorrectly Set the correct DMX address
Fixtures will operate from time to
time. The signal cable is
incompatible with the
DMX512 signal or the
signal cable is
disconnected or
damaged somewhere. Check the signal cable is compatible
with DMX512 signal and check that
the cable is connected correctly and
that there is no damaged part to the
cable.
The DMX512 control
board in the fixture is
damaged. Replace the DMX512 control board in
the fixture.
One or several fixtures
are not responding to
DMX512 control or not
responding correctly.
Locate which unit the DMX512
problem is coming from, by
bypassing the units one at a time.
The DMX512 signal
has no feedback. Connect a terminator connector to
the last fixture
