HOW TO USE THE BUILT-IN TIMER
• Listening to the radio, recording radio
programmes, playing a cassette
To record or playback a tape, first load a tape into the cassette
compartment. To listen to the radio, turn the power on and tune
in the desired station.
1 Press TIMER button. The lower dot in the colon between
the hour and minutes in the clock will go out.
2 While pressing TIMER button, press HOUR and MINUTE
to set the desired time.
3 Set TIMER switch to ON. will appear on the display.
4 Set POWER to OFF.
The radio will come on automatically by completing step 4.
5 To record radio programmes
Press RECORD.
To playback a cassette
Press PLAY on either TAPE 1 or 2.
6 Once step 5 is completed, the tape deck will be automati-
cally activated at the preset time to either record or playback.
7 The radio or tape deck is turned off automatically 64
minutes after started by the timer.
• To turn the unit off, simply set the TIMER switch to OFF.
The timer will not be activated again unless it is reset once it
is turned off. If using the cassette deck, first press STOP/EJECT,
and then turn the timer off.
• Set the TIMER to ON for use as a wake-up timer for the next
day. (The timer is not cancelled even if the unit turns off auto-
matically after 64 minutes.)
• The power will be cut off and playback will stop after 64
minutes but the PLAY button will not be released. Press
STOP/EJECT.
This is also true when using the sleep function.
• To turn off at a preset time less than 64
minutes
• The radio and cassette deck can all be turned off automat-
ically.
• The timer can be set whether or not other functions are be-
ing used.
1 Press SLEEP. The upper dot in the colon between the hour
and minutes in the clock will go out, and the SLEEP indicator
will light.
2 While pressing SLEEP button, press MINUTE to set the
desired time.
• The time setting decreases one minute each time MINUTE
is pressed.
• Hold MINUTE pressed to quickly decrease the time setting.
• Skip this step if the desired time setting is 64 minutes.
3 Set POWER to OFF/SEEP.
The unit will turn off after the preset time.
Simply press SLEEP to reset the 64 minute time setting after
the unit turns off automatically.
• Press SLEEP to display the remaining time when the SLEEP
feature is on.
• Press SLEEP and HOUR/OFF to cancel the SLEEP feature and
reset the time display to " 0 0 " during SLEEP mode operation.
• To turn the radio off with SLEEP and on again with the TIMER

Note:
The tape deck and radio are not turned off even if POWER is
set to OFF when the sleep timer or automatic ON timer is set.
