Troubleshooting

Clearing a Stage 1 Cutting Chamber Jam

Tools and PPE Required:

Cut resistant gloves

Long pliers

5/32” Allen wrench

1.

If Stage 1 experiences a jam, the unit automatically reverses up to five times to clear the jam. If the jam

is not automatically cleared, the unit goes into a timed shutdown mode illuminating solid both the

RESET

 button and the

STOP

 button.

If the unit is ready to run, the RESET button light extinguishes. Go to step 2.

If the unit is still jammed, the RESET button remains illuminated solid and the media may have

to be removed manually. Go to step 3.

If the RESET button flashes, see

Clearing a Stage 2 Cutting Chamber Jam

, next section.

2.

To restart the unit, press the

START

button on the vacuum fan system, and then press the

RESET

button

on the disintegrator control panel.

Caution:

Always de-energize the unit using proper lockout-tagout (LOTO) procedures when cleaning,

lubricating, or performing any other maintenance, troubleshooting, or repair.

Warning:

NEVER reach into the cutting chamber with bare hands.

Caution:

Always wear proper PPE, including cut resistant gloves, when accessing the cutting chambers.

3.

To release the jam, de-energize the unit using proper lockout-tagout (LOTO) procedure, then unbolt and

remove the top cover to gain access to the Stage 1 chamber (see Figure 7 and Figure 8, page 17, in the

Cleaning

section). SEM recommends using long pliers to remove the drive and/or remaining particles.

4.

Bolt the top cover back into place.

5.

Follow the startup procedures to restart the unit,

Startup and Operation

, page 10.

Clearing a Stage 2 Cutting Chamber Jam

If the

RESET

light is blinking, this indicates that there is a jam in Stage 2 of the cutting chamber. Use the

following instructions to access the Stage 2 cutting chamber to clear a jam or for maintenance.

Accessing the Stage 2 Cutting Chamber for Clearing a Jam
