Advanced troubleshooting
for PC Users
• Make sure you are using the Windows 98, Windows Me,
Windows 2000, or Windows XP operating system.
Windows NT and Windows 95 do not support USB
devices.
• Make sure that the tape drive is connected to the AC
power source
and switched on
before you connect it to
the computer.
• If your computer has more than one USB connector, try
switching the tape drive to the unused connector.
• For the Travan 40GB, a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface is
strongly recommended. To enable this interface, you
may need to install a Windows system upgrade from the
Microsoft web site (www. microsoft.com).
• For Windows 98 or Me, check to make sure that you are
using the USB driver supplied on the Seagate USB
Resource CD.
