5.2 FT Slip Clutches - Initial Use
Failure to comply with the following procedure will result in slip
clutch and possible implement damage!
CAUTION!
The Bondioli FT clutches on this implement is
provided with 4 socket head screws (figure 1).
These set screws have been supplied to semi-
disengage the slipclutch during long periods of
non-use. When the socket head screws are tight,
the slip clutch is semi-disengaged (figure 2).
When the socket head screws are loosened, the
slip clutch is engaged and ready for use (figure
3).
NOTE: The clutches are shipped semi-disengaged, and therefore will not operate properly
until the following procedure is done.
1. Remove the pouch containing the hex wrench and manufacturer’s instructions from the driveline.
Do not run the cutter with the pouches taped to the drivelines.
2. Attach the implement to the tractor and connect the driveline.
3. With the implement in the fully raised position, and the tractor engine at idle speed, engage the
PTO for 2-3 seconds to make the clutch slip.
Do not allow the clutch to slip for more than 2-3 seconds at a time to prevent
damage to the clutch lining
.
If the clutch does not slip repeat this procedure 2 or 3 times. If the clutch does not slip after 2 or 3
attempts, disassemble the clutch, clean up all contact surfaces and replace any damaged components
as per attached maintenance instructions on pages 2 & 3.
4. Once the clutch has been slipped, use the hex wrench provided to fully loosen all 4 of the socket
head screws. They will not unscrew completely out of the clutch. This will restore pressure to the
linings for proper operation. The clutch is now ready for use. Store the hex wrenches in the manual
storage box after use.
