Rust film and extraneous rust
Particles of iron can be found everywhere in our environment, including in the drinking
water. If they are sticking to the surface of the grill plate, they may combine with moisture
to develop rust and damage the pan. Rust film build-ups should be removed carefully.
Typical application
Put some oil in a small area of the grill plate (e. g. in one corner). Select a medium power
setting (e. g. level 6 of 9) and heat the grill plate slowly to the desired temperature. When
you hold a wooden spoon into the heated fat and little bubbles form on the spoon, the
grill plate has reached the correct temperature. Now, you can put the food on the grill
plate. Reduce the energy supply and cook your food for the desired time.
It is sensible to apply oil to the cold grill plate with a pastry brush at the start, so that the
grill moulding is greased. The food can also be coated with oil directly.
Always use only a suitable oil or fat (see Oils and fats).
