Troubleshooting
A simple fault may often be the reason for a malfunction, and as such can easily be corrected by the
user himself.
Malfunction
Measures to eliminate the fault
Blank display after pressing the centre
of the joystick.
Check line/mains connections and voltage.
Check cable connections.
Is the power supply provided via foot-switch,
loosen the plug and connect the line/mains cable
directly to the schuett phoenix II.
After switching the burner on, it tries to
ignite (audible clicking) for approx. 10
seconds, but no flame is produced. The
display shows the remark “Check gas
supply“.
Fully open the gas supply “Gas” (B) by turning
counter clockwise.
Check all intermediary gas taps.
Replace empty cartridge or bottle.
Press the centre of the joystick (A) in the hand
operating mode and start the burner again.
The flame is too large when using
propane/butane.
Exchange the nozzle for natural gas (gold) with the
nozzle for propane/butane (blue).
The flame is too small when using
natural gas.
Exchange the nozzle for propane/butane (blue) with
the nozzle for natural gas (gold).
The flame is small or unstable.
Optimize the relation of gas/air mixture by turning
and pulling the gas-air control (B).
The IR-sensor does not work.
Check the sensor settings (see page 22).
Activate the sensor.
Increase the sensitivity of the sensor.
The foot-switch does not work.
Check cable connections.
Check the 5 pins in the plug.
If the burner works in sensor mode, exchange the
foot-switch (accessory).
After switching the burner on, no
ignition (no audible clicking), no flame
produced. After approx. 10 seconds, the
remark “Clean burner head“ is shown in
the display.
Clean the burner head as described (see page
30) and mount the clean burner head to the
device.
Press the centre of the joystick (A) shortly and
activate the burner again. If this does not correct the
fault, please replace the burner head (spare-part).
If the measures listed above do not restore the device to its operational state or if the fault is not
listed above, please contact the manufacturer.
