5.5 Installing a springer balancer to align the operator handle (optional)
5.5.1 Springer balancer pre-installed by Schmalz
The springer balancer (1) is used to align the operator handle
horizontally. Hang up the springer balancer using safety mounts(2 & 3).
/The operator handle (4) should be aligned horizontally in a slackened
state. If the preset springer balancer does not guarantee an optimum
position, this can be set at the springer balancer using the lift capacity.
Refer to the supplied operating instructions when installing the springer
balancer.
Setting the springer balancer:
1.
To set the springer balancer, you will need an Allen key (4 mm).
2.
Insert the Allen key in the spring catch (on the side, in the middle) and press inward (Ignoring this
instruction will cause slight damage to the Allen key). Use the Allen key to make the setting you
want within the permitted adjustment range.
Moving in the “Plus” (+) direction increases the load-bearing capacity (increases the tensile
force of the springer balancer).
Moving in the “Minus” (+) direction decreases the load-bearing capacity (decreases the tensile
force of the springer balancer).
3.
A
maximum of 5.2 rotations can be made in the “Minus” (-) direction starting from the factory-set
maximum load.
Risk of injury from swift cable retraction
The extended cable of the springer balancer retracts by spring action.
There is a risk of it slipping through the hand and causing injury to this or
other body parts!
►
Hold onto the extended cable tightly and feed it back slowly.
►
Wear protective glasses.
►
Wear safety gloves (safety category 2133).
►
Never release the cable, allowing it to spring back alone!
WARNING
Risk of injury when unhinging the operator handle
When unhinging the operator handle, it can sag and cause the gripper to
swing, potentially injuring people in the vicinity.
►
Move the gripper close to the ground before removing the springer
balancer.
►
Fix or hold onto the operator handle by some other means.
