7.10 Power plant system
Engine and propeller (for a description and relevant data refer to the engine and
propeller manual) are accommodated in a special CFRP mounting structure
(pylon), which is pivoted to the fuselage steel tube center frame by means of two
rubber shock mounts (vibration isolators). The arresting wire is attached to the
pylon.
An electrical spindle drive, anchored to the fuselage deck and linked to the pylon,
extends and retracts the latter (in a rotary motion about the pivot pins in the
fuselage).
The doors of the engine compartment are automatically opened and closed by a
linkage while the pylon extends / retracts.
A panel-mounted ILEC engine control unit combines a number of functions
requires for opening the power plant, a description of this unit is given on page
7.3.2 and the following.
Other controls necessary for the power plant are just the fuel shut-off valve,
throttle, primer and prop arresting device handle.
