4. PROPULSION
The Saphire 27’ is designed for the installation of the Electric Propulsion Pack Torqeedo Travel 1003 or Torqeedo Cruise 2.0 RS (both supplied
as Option).
Alternatively the Saphire 27’ can be equipped with a fuel engine Evinrude 3.5 HP (supplied as Option).
The Torqeedo or the Evinrude engine can be installed inside the under cockpit engine compartment and it remains in the water only during the
motoring phase. Thanks to a smart support-rotating-lifting system the engine can be easily extacted from the water under sailing to avoid the
drag of the engine foot and propeller.
Moreover the central position of the engine guarantee the maximum efficiency of the propulsion system even motoring in “choppy” waves
condition.
CAUTION
DURING THE UP & DOWN ENGINE MOVEMENTS BE CAREFUL NOT TO CRUSH YOUR FINGERS OR HANDS BETWEEN THE SUPPORT AND THE BOAT
COMPARTMENT WALLS.
ALWAYS TAKE CARE TO KEEP THE ENGINE LOCKER HATCH IN THE OPEN POSITION AND BE SURE THAT NOBODY IS TOUCHING THE ENGINE
COMPARTMENT HATCH HINGES.
MAXIMUM SPEED WHEN UP OR DOWN THE MAINSAIL SHOULD NOT BE MORE THAN 3 KNOTS.
To use the Evinrude Fuel Engine or the Torqeedo Electric Propulsion Engine and for the engine/battery maintenance, always refers to the
manufatcturer Owner’s Manual.
Do not forget that the engine has a manufacturer warranty: read carefully the Torqeedo or Evinrude instruction manual; it is recommended to
consult authorized technicians for enquiry or maintenance.
DANGER
ALWAYS REMEMBER TO PLACE THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT BOTTOM HATCH ONCE THE ENGINE HAS BEEN MOVED OUT OF THE WATER AND
BEFORE SAILING.
THE PROPELLER RUNNING CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS; KEEP THE ELECTRIC SWITCH OF THE ENGINE IN OFF POSITION EACH MOMENT THAT
SOMEONE IS WORKING ON OR AROUND THE ENGINE.
