TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
If you have followed the instructions and are having difficulty operation the unit, locate the SYMPTOM in the left column below. Check
the corresponding POSSIBLE CAUSE and CORRECTIVE ACTION columns to locate and remedy the problem.
SYMPTOM
No power.
The power is on, but the player does not
work.
No picture.
No sound.
Sound is heard from only one speaker.
The playback picture is poor.
Part of On-Screen-Display is cut off.
“
” appears on the TV screen.
The unit does not start playback.
The disc tray does not open.
Flickering “ST”.
The remote control does not work properly.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
No power plug connection at the AC wall outlet.
No disc is loaded.
An unplayable disc is loaded.
The TV is not set to receive signal from the unit.
The video cable is not connected.
Volume control is set to minimum.
The wrong function is selected.
Faulty speaker connections.
Faulty connection of speaker wires.
An unplayable disc is loaded.
Incorrect aspect ratio setup on TV.
The selected function does not operate on the
disc now.
No disc is loaded.
An unplayable disc is loaded.
The disc is loaded with the label side down.
The disc is dirty.
“Parental” is set.
The disc tray may be locked.
Weak signal.
The batteries in the remote control are weak, or
installed incorrectly.
The remote control is not aimed at the remote
sensor window.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Insert the power plug into the AC wall outlet.
Load a disc.
Load a playable disc. (Check the disc logo, type,
color system and Regional code.) (See page E15.)
Select the correct input function on the TV.
Connect the video cable into the jack.
Turn up the volume.
Select the correct function.
Connect the speaker wires firmly to the speaker
terminals. (See page E7.)
Connect the speaker wires firmly to the speaker
terminals. (See page E7.)
Load a playable disc. (Check the disc logo, type,
color system, and regional code.) (See page E15.)
Refer to the instruction manual of your TV.
The feature or action cannot be completed at this
time because:

The feature is not available at the moment.
•
The DVD software restricts it.
•
The DVD software doesn’t support the feature
(e.g., angles).
Load a disc.
Load a playable disc. (Check the disc logo, type,
color system, and regional code.) (See page E15.)
Load the disc on the disc tray correctly.
Clean the disc or replace it.
Cancel the parental lock function or change the
rating level. Reset it after play. (See Page E34.)
Press the
q
button on the unit until “UNLOCKED”
appears on the FL display. (See page E17.)
Press [FM MODE] on the remote control to select
“MONO”. (See page E36.)
Reorient the FM antenna lead wire or install an
outdoor FM antenna. (See page E11.)
Check the battery polarity (+ or -).
Replace the batteries. (See page E6.)
Aim the remote control at the remote sensor window.

give the model number and explain the problem. The dealer will advise you how to obtain service.
